Powder coating is a form of material coating, mainly used for coating metals, that uses a dry powder that is heat cured or baked onto the desired surface(s). The finish is much harder and longer wearing than conventional paint and comes in a wide array of colours.
Depending on the surface being cleaned or stripped, an appropriate abrasive material is chosen (sand, glass beads, etc), and forced against the surface under pressure to remove old paint, rust and other materials to prepare the surfaces for powdercoating.
This process removes paint finishes or other coatings from surfaces by the use of a chemical solvent. Chemicals penetrate and soften the old coating, separating it from the material, ready for powdercoating.
Often an item to be powdercoated requires certain areas of the item to be masked off to ensure those areas are not coated during the process. This is often the case for telecommunications or electrical items to ensure contact between parts is maintained. We can prepare your items, following your exact requirements for masking, as required.
